Salvatori presents the new Spaghetti collection
The very best of Italian tradition, artisanal skill and meticulous technique come together to create the perfect recipe in our new Spaghetti collection
Salvatori pays homage to an Italiani con with the new Spaghetti collection
Spaghetti, the new collection designed by Elisa Ossino for Salvatori, made its debut at Milan Design Week 2021. A delightfully original homage to the Italian culture and craftsmanship, it recreates the world’s most iconic pasta in an elegant texture and series of matching taps.
A sophisticated, dynamic texture
Delicate fluting undulates across the surface of natural stone in a pattern that repeats itself in an infinite and charming rhythm, tempting you to run your hand across it so that you can enjoy its extraordinary tactile precision. While it is based on an old, traditional dish, this is a highly innovative product and it is impossible not to start imagining how perfect it would look in a modern bathroom or living room.
Simplicity is an art form, and as you admire Spaghetti’s meticulous lines, it is worth remembering that behind them lies the skill and know-how of artisans, together with a level of precision engineering that is more usually associated with watchmaking or fine jewellery.
The effect is sober yet dynamic, the result of an interplay of light and dark created by the incisions which cast a slight shadow that adds a sense of depth to the delicate grooves.
One texture, four stones and a myriad of possibilities
The fruit of a long, painstaking process of research and experimentation of various techniques and technologies, Spaghetti is not only charming and surprising, but also incredibly versatile. So much so, in fact, that it is not only used as tiles, but also for tapware, and in a bathroom, the two components come together to create a harmonious, understated total look that is eye-catching without being overpowering.
The final effect can vary, depending on the type of stone you choose. Bianco Carrara is particularly effective at making a space feel lighter and airier, and in Spaghetti, the play of light and shadow adds an intriguing additional aspect to the magic of this classic white stone. The warm tones of Crema d’Orcia Select, on the other hand, soften an environment and evoke much-loved Italian traditions and scenery.
Pietra d’Avola, with its rich dark, almost black colour, brings sheer drama, whether used on its own or as a contrast with Bianco Carrara to create a black and white effect. Last, but not least, is Silk Georgette®, a supremely elegant limestone in unusual shades of beige-grey.
Texture and tapware for an elegant total look
The Spaghetti collection oozes discreet luxury, drawing the eye without overwhelming it, and adding just the right touch of movement and interest to a bathroom, but in an understated, balance manner. This makes it extremely versatile as it can be used on its own or alongside other textures to create contrast or continuity.
The tapware is similarly complex and meticulous, with the handles made of dainty metal bezels in the same texture, produced to scale, and finished with circular inserts of stone which can be matched to the wall tiles or ordered in a different stone if you are looking for a stylish contrast.
This bathroom is a study in contrasts, with the subtle ripples of the Spaghetti texture in Pietra d’Avola cascading gently downwards to an expanse of Stone Parquet flooring in Bianco Carrara. Although understated, there is plenty of movement in interest in the form of the juxtaposition of light and dark, and the way the diagonal lines of the herringbone patterning on the floor draws the eye from the precise linearity of the wall. This combination of form and colour is the ideal backdrop for the vanity unit, in which the circular basin echoes the shape of the taps and the mirror to create a lovely harmony.
If you are a fan of a Total Look bathroom and want a harmonious, mono-colour look, but at the same time don’t want to fall into the trap of a bland or safe décor, Spaghetti in Silk Georgette® is the perfect solution. The light ripples of the texture amplify the unconventional pattern of this lovely limestone to create depth and interest, even when combined with a basin in the same stone, as in this example. The Spaghetti taps with their insert in Silk Georgette® add an understated flourish that is in keeping with the subdued elegance of the entire bathroom.
If you have fallen in love with this original and stylish homage to Italy, the good news is that you can now purchase the Spaghetti texture from our stores, authorised dealers and online, while the tapware will be available from April 2022.
